Test of a Ping

December 5, 2006

By including a link to a Post on a blog I should generate a “ping” which will show up as an automatically created comment under that post I linked to. So here is the link of our first real popular post Fr. Angelo’s on the movie The Nativity (1000 hits in the first three days) and you can click on it yourself to see how it looks.

This, of course, is one of the great features of the blog system and is a way of dramatically increasing viewership.  So it behooves you to frequent the prominent blogspots and read and view the various posts and include links to pertainant posts in your new post.  Further, the ping comment is basically a link from their site to yours and this increases Google ratings.  Your link to them, in turn, increase their ranking.  Also the general traffic of pings on their site increases the rate at which their site updates which also increases their Google rankings.

It must be clear that this should not be a link to the home page but rather to a specific post because the automatic comment must be associated with a post as all comments on blogs must.  Also, including a link in a comment to your own post will not show up as a ping in their comments.  Only by putting a link in the body of your post will you get a ping.

Note: It is important to make sure the post you are writing is free of errors because although you can modify your post on your own site, the portion that shows up in the ping comment on the other site will not update, all the original errors will remain!

Vlog It! – Can it Import VisCom Projects?

November 26, 2006

Update: Yes, but…, there did seem to be some problems with publishing, in that the process stopped at the last transition, at the finale.  This needs to be investigated

Original post:

Yes! Which is good news because many of the templates so far generated for Air Maria are done in Visual Communicator (VC) but if we want to go with Vlog It then we will have to be able to import these.  Visual Communicator and Vlog It are both from Serious Magic and do the same thing but Vlog It is much lower in cost ($50) and fewer features.  The fact that VC projects work in Vlog It means that we can have an admixture of Vlog It and VC in the community effort.

To see the imported video click below

It is a test of the Canon ZR 500 Mini DV Camcorder

Procedure for Importing – will add latter in a different post

Visual Communicator: Transferring Templates

November 22, 2006

Video #4 – Transferring VC Templates >>> Play

Description

This describes how to transfer Visual Communicator (VC) templates from one computer with VC installed to another in order to get many of our content contributors to have the same look to their studios and the same sound and look to their Intros and graphics and such in order to have the appearance that our friars are using the same studio when in fact they are dispersed across the globe.  It also has a work around for an inherent difficulty in transferring projects in VC.

What is a template?

A project with standard graphics and music and “studio” for a series of shows that has no content recorded yet.  It is a blank project from which new shows of a consistent look can be made.

Where it is located?

  • My Documents\Visual Communicator\My Projects

  • Standard directory that VC generates on install

Files includedTo transfer

Simply copy and paste to new computer

What is the difficulty in transferring?Error on opening

Solution: none known

Work around: Drag and drop graphics to action trays

Copy any External Graphics
